Predictive expressions for withdrawal force capacity of various size of dowels from particleboard and medium density fiberboard

The objective of this study was to develop predictive expressions for estimating the withdrawal force capacity various size beech (Fagus orientalis) dowels from medium density fiberboard (MDF) and particleboard (PB). Furthermore, effects base material type, dowel diameter, penetration adhesive type on were investigated. Polyurethane (PU), polyvinyl acetate based D2, (PVA) adhesives utilized gluing dowels. A total 540 specimens prepared edge face tests including two types (MDF, PB), three diameters (6 mm, 8 10 mm), depths (15 20 25 mm edge, 6 9 12 face), five replications each group. Specimens tested under static forces. Based results tests, that allow furniture engineers estimate as a function diameter developed. Calculations showed developed provided reasonable estimates As result statistical analyses, penetration, their four-way interaction have significantly affected Test also indicated PU MDF ranked highest among types.
